
RAWALPINDI: To conduct an unbiased assessment of two potential Rawalpindi Ring Road options, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has started the process of hiring a renowned private company. (According to a news source)
We invited private businesses to a pre-bid meeting hosted in the commissioner’s office in order to answer their inquiries. Dr. Habib Randhawa, Chief Engineer for RDA, presided over the meeting.
The Punjab Government decided to employ a consulting firm to work on the project in two phases: Phase I will determine the optimal route and economic corridor, and Phase II would contain a comprehensive plan for land use along the third-party verified route of the road. For the two stages, we have made aside Rs.90 million — Rs. 30 million for Phase I and Rs. 60 million for Phase II.
The federal government has identified five megaprojects following Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent visit to the UAE, including the Phase-I oil import terminal at Parco Coastal Refinery, the Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway, the Rawalpindi Ring Road, the Karachi Circular Railway, and the connection of Thar Block-II to the rail system.
